Because a retired racing greyhound will typically have very little experience with children, Bear has been taught to "leave it" and "take it" - as well as some other basic manners - before he gets to spend quality time at floor level with the youngest members of his social circle.
This video is a very good general guide to dog body language. If you've got dogs in your life, take a few minutes to watch - especially for the "worried dogs" and "stress signs" which, when recognized early on in a situation, can help dog owners to keep their pets out of fear and/or conflict situations. This would be a good teaching tool for kids re bite prevention, too.
